Fire Crews Respond to Vacant House Fire
0n Highway 101 near Kirk Road

Fire District 3 was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire on the North side of Highway 101 in the vicinity of Kirk Road at 9:31 pm Tuesday night. The single story wood frame structure was apparently vacant, however furniture was in the building at the time of the fire.
Upon arrival Engine 33 from Carlsborg reported structure was heavily involved in fire with smoke visible from several sides of the structure. In addition to the initial dispatch of three engines, two medic units, and 2 Assistant Chiefs, additional Fire district 3 personnel and a unit from Sequim Ambulance also responded.
Initially fire crews applied water from outside the building into the structure.
When sufficient personnel arrived, an interior attack was initiated and a hole was cut in the roof for vertical ventilation and fire control.
According to Assistant Chief Ben Andrews, the Incident Commander “The crews did an excellent job of quickly stopping this fire. Suppression took less than 15 minutes”
The cause and origin of this fire are under investigation by the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.
