On Thursday February 4th the International Medical Assistance Team 3 will be deploying to the Port Au Prince area to provide medical aid to the victims of the January 10, 2010 earthquake. The team is made up of a paramedic, and 2 E.M.T.’s from Clallam County Fire District #3. They will meet up with 5 R.N.s from the greater Seattle area and depart for Florida Thursday afternoon. Once in Florida, they will connect with 2 Life 18, a charity service formed in the days after the Katrina devastation to aid in first-responder relief efforts, which will deliver the team and their supplies to Haiti.
Once on the ground, the team will be working with the 82nd Airborne helping with medical triage and delivering medical care to remote areas that have not had any aid since the quake. They will be staying in a camp with close to over 100,000 people nearby to care for.
Team participation is on a totally volunteer basis with each individual paying their own expenses. Donations to help offset their costs are gratefully accepted. Checks or money orders can be sent to Professional Fire Fighters, PO Box 1431, Sequim, WA 98382. Please indicate Haiti Relief Effort in the memo section to assure the funds will go directly to this great cause. Thank you for your contribution.
